Oedipus in the mouth of the dragon
New York, NY
A creative collaboration with Art on the Beach and Creative Time, a series of beach follies served as a vehicle between artists, architects and performers energized by the East Village scene in New York City at the time. A dragon/sphinx structure with a tower, ladder, stairs and movable appendages, the structure evokes childhood memories mixed with Greek tragedy and Roman myth. Performances were similarly cross-laden and mixed media of theatre, opera and dance. Ironically, the structure was situated adjacent to the former World Trade Center Towers.
