Miami Beach, Fl. - 2003
The 2,000 sf apartment is a study in minimalist detailing and precision craft. The existing apartment has large windows with an ocean view and expansive light. Therefore, the planning is open and unobstructed in order to maximize the natural setting. Sliding pocket and pivot doors, concealed hardware, and recessed floor bases are specific moments that contribute to overall volumetric purity and simplicity. White walls, ceiling and millwork allows the registration of light and shadow to change the atmosphere throughout the day. Sleek, high gloss lacquer and Calcutta gold countertops introduce a hint of reflectivity and pattern in the kitchen. The bathrooms contain walls of white penny tiles for texture. Classic modern furniture also presents a futuristic yet functional overall feeling.
