Sring Green Residence

The Lane Residence was designed for my brother, and was my first built work. Their 70-acre farm specializes in growing organic pears, apples, peaches, and plums. Perched on a knoll, the 2,000 sf house looks out over a valley and on to the Blue Mounds in the far distance. Constructed of laminated wood beams and siding that has been recycled from an old barn, the house takes cues from the site and the sun as an inspiration for its dynamic form. Its section most aptly expresses the house. A square in plan, the simple north-facing curve of metal roofing rolls down the back of the house while the front is composed of a wooden box on stilts.
