LINCOLN ROAD STREET ELEMENTS

Originally designed for Lincoln Road, this assortment of street furniture includes a drinking fountain, a telephone kiosk, and newspaper stand. Borrowing from the notion of the “folly,” these elements are uniquely functional as well. Form does not necessarily follow function and function does not necessarily follow form. The design process in this case allows for a synthesis of expression, function and narrative. Umbrellas, amphibious creatures and tropical plants play a role in literally redefining the program and it’s architectural formation.
