orchard house
Spring Green, WI
Perched on a knoll, the house looks out over a 70-acre farm that specializes in growing organic pears, apples, peaches, and plums. Constructed of laminated wood beams and siding that had been recycled from an old barn, the house takes cues from the site and the sun as an inspiration for its dynamic form. Its section most aptly expresses the house. A square in plan, the simple north-facing curve of metal roofing rolls down the back of the house while the front is composed of a wooden box on stilts
